Falls Park

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Clive Richardson Limited were awarded the contract to enhance an area within Falls Park which was used regularly to host community events, including the annual Féile an Phobail. Previously the area had hosted events but the ground conditions meant that the scale of the events held had to be limited.  It was hoped that the works would enable to events held within the Park to be significantly enlarged.

The works undertaken by CRL comprised significant earthworks to shape the ground and lower it to the required level, installation of ground stablisitation, replacement of the existing surface with a contractor designed reinforced grass material (fibresand) and contractor designed drainage system to include an modular cell attenuation tank system, a collector pipeline and new outlets for the system.  A series of reinforced grass access points were also installed to enable the future set-up required to host concerts and other events.

The space successfully held the 2018 and 2019 Féile an Phobail concerts and also Michael Conlan’s boxing match in 2019.  Each of these events attracted approx 12000 people.
