Clive Richardson Limited were engaged as a specialist sportsground contractor by Education Authority NI and Woodvale Construction to reconstruct four pitches and a synthetic cricket wicket at Campsie Playing Fields in Omagh.
Works involved the installation of new drainage system across the site to allow the the construction of four sand-carpet natural grass pitches. The soil profile was graded, stone picked and levelled before a layer of sand was added. Pitches were then sown out and appropriate fertiliser applied. Rugby sockets and posts were installed on all of the pitches. A synthetic cricket wicket was also installed between two of the pitches. Pitches were marked out and an athletics tracked marked out around the perimeter. Long Jump and triple jump pits were also reconstituted with specialised Wexford sand.
The facilities are now used by a number of schools in the area on a daily basis.
