Brandywell Stadium Redevelopment

CRL played a pivotal role in the redevelopment of this iconic venue into one of the premier multi-sport facilities in Northern Ireland.  The existing stadium, home to Derry City Football Club and a Greyhound Track, was demolished to make way for the new state of the art facility.

Within a newly built stadium, CRL constructed a 3G synthetic pitch to FIFA 2-Star standard.  Works comprised site preparation works, drainage, engineered sub-base, kerbing, the installation of a 3G carpet system including shockpad, and associated furniture and pitch equipment.

A new Greyhound Track was also constructed by CRL around the adjacent existing ‘Showgrounds’ Grass Training Pitch.  Works comprised site preparation works, drainage, base formation, kerbing and rails, installation of track surface in specialised white silica sand and associated furniture and track equipment.

The project delivered a now world class sporting facility within the Derry City and Strabane District Council Area.  The facility will be used by the entire community throughout the year for a range of sporting and non-sporting events.  The Stadium and 3G Pitch will be the home of Derry City FC and play host to many top level European football matches in the years to come.

The standard of the construction was recognised at the 2018/19 ALCI Landscape Awards where the project was given an Award of Merit in the Sportsgrounds Category.
